Service Admin Assistant position is available in the Independent Living Team at British Red Cross. The Service Administrative Assistant will coordinate with the team.

About the Position

You will assist the Support Officer in providing administrative and operational support functions to the area that is managed and delivered in accordance with both the needs of the area and corporate requirements. You will be an efficient administrator who is confident to respond to incoming enquiries from healthcare professionals and members of the public over phone and by email. Moreover, this is a role which requires a motivated, committed and enthusiastic person with excellent communication skills and an ability to deal with people in a sensitive yet professional manner. In addition, you will be able to use IT systems and databases in your role and produce well written letters and emails.

Key Responsibilities

  • Meet and greet clients, the public, staff and volunteers in a positive and welcoming manner.
  • Respond to requests for Red Cross services/information, and sign-posting to other organisations
  • Book and make arrangements for the meetings across the Area, providing administrative support for instance, booking travel, minute taking and arranging facilities as necessary.
  • Likewise, General administrative and some reception duties, post (incoming and outgoing), answering the telephone, emails
  • Furthermore, maintain confidential data in a secure and appropriate manner in line with information governance guidelines.

Salary and Benefits

£14,251 per annum pro rata (£7.83 per hour)

Qualities in the Incumbent

  • Educated to GCSE level (or equivalent by experience)
  • Positive, passionate and enthusiastic approach to customer service
  • Also, Confident in using telephone systems, Microsoft packages & Outlook with the ability to create, amend and manipulate Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint applications
  • General administrative duties; incoming and outgoing mail, answering the telephone and scanning, filing, meeting and greeting customers
  • Outgoing with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to deal with queries in a diplomatic, professional and confidential manner both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work accurately, check documentation for accuracy
