Position Title: Senior Technical Advisor

Key duties

The incumbent will do the following in particular

  • Contributes to the strategies for all the technical requirements of the ICYD Activity.
  • Similarly, provides technical expertise to ensure the fulfillment of project deliverables.
  • Builds relationships with key stakeholders, and actively collaborates with the USAID/Uganda COR to effectively support program implementation.
  • Addresses operational and programmatic questions and challenges.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of best practices, and also contributes to knowledge capture and dissemination of key learnings to stakeholders within the ICYD Activity.
  • Promotes innovation, improved methodologies, and project implementation through the USAID Collaborating, Learning, & Adapting (CLA) approach.
  • Actively engages with local partners, the private sector, and other humanitarian and development organizations as well as promotes effective collaboration and cooperation across the Contractor teams.

Requirements

In order to be capable appointee, the candidate must have the following qualifications

  • Advanced degree in international development, health, education, or another relevant field.
  • Minimum of ten years of relevant technical experience in international development, education, health, or child development.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with the Office of the U.S. Global AIDS Coordinator and Health Diplomacy/PEPFAR processes, Country Operational Planning processes, PEPFAR Guidance, and PEPFAR reporting preferred.
  • Ability to provide technical guidance to PEPFAR partners in assessment, development, and implementation of the Activity’s data quality initiatives.
  • Thorough knowledge of the current and historic child and youth education and health services delivery sector in Uganda preferred. Similarly, experience with USAID’s Collaborating, Learning and Adapting (CLA) framework preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively in a cross-cultural environment and collaborate in a multi-agency setting.
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills, resourcefulness, and flexibility as well as fluency in written and oral English.
  • Furthermore, demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity.
