United Nations Department of Safety and Security has a job vacancy for Field Security Associate.
As a global leader in security risk management principles, UNDSS enables the safe and effective delivery of United Nations programmes and activities in the most complex and challenging environments, while maximizing precious resources.
Under the overall guidance and supervision of the Security Adviser, the Field Security Associate assists in the implementation of security operations and all matters relating to the management of safety and security for UN personnel in the Area of Responsibility.
Assist the Security Adviser and Field Security Coordination Officer in collecting, updating and communicating information regarding the security situation AoR
Liaise and coordinate, as appropriate, with the host government security organizations and/or personnel
Help to assess the security situation at the duty station as well as ensure adequate gathering and verification of security information
Communicate information on security issues to the heads of United Nations agencies and provide host country security advice to UNDSS
Maintains regular contacts with Security Focal Points of UN agencies
Assists in managing the local cost-share security budget;
Provide technical assistance at Area/Security Management Team meetings
Helps in the preparation and review of the UN Security Plan
Assists with the monitoring of the security measures implementation
Also, assists in reporting security incidents affecting UN staff, offices and assets, and assists in the preparation of security reports
Provides support in organizing and conducting training courses on security awareness and preparedness as well as providing security orientation to newly assigned staff members.
Conducts security briefings, as required.
Provides support in conducting security evaluations and provides advice on Residential Security Measures of UN staff, as well as on latest trends and threats to staff safety and security
Establishes and maintains warden system and keeps update of information related to UN offices and residences
Maintains liaison with Host Government Security Authorities and Unarmed Private Security (UPS) commercial companies at offices and residences to facilitate the effective and efficient use of the guard force.
Also, maintains routine and confidential correspondence files/documents;
Maintains a database on contact details of host country security authorities;
Moreover, arranges appointments, receives visitors, places and screens telephone calls with discretion, and takes minutes and/or notes at the meeting
