UX Designer, Project Stream position is available in Google office in Canada. This role is on Project Stream, a team that’s exploring the limits of streaming technology on the internet. User experience (UX) is at the forefront of how Google creates intuitives, innovative, and beautiful products that people love. The multidisciplinary UX teams include designers, researchers, content strategists, and engineers who are passionate about quality, usability, and performance. Moreover, they collaborate closely with product managers, software engineers, and many others to solve complex challenges and craft powerful experiences that highlight the products’ unique capabilities and personalities.

The job of an Interaction Designer is to envision how people experience products and bring that vision to life in a way that feels inspired, refined and even magical. You’ll take on complex tasks and transform them into intuitive, accessible as well as easy-to-use designs for billions of people around the world—from the first-time user to the sophisticated expert. Furthermore, you will anticipate what the users need, advocate for them and ensure that the final product surprises and delights them.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver UX solutions that measurably improve the core workflows of our users.
  • Design mental models, end-to-end journeys, and user interfaces for Google software products.
  • Likewise, develop storyboards, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes that effectively communicate interaction and design intent.
  • Produce artifacts and support UX researchers in conducting both formative and evaluative studies.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
  • In addition, relevant work experience in designing web-based interfaces.

Preferred

  • 4 years of relevant work experience, including demonstrated experience in designing usable web-based interfaces.
  • Strong creative and visual skills and the ability to explain your thinking.
  • Similarly, strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work independently and with a team.
