Danish Refugee Council in Cameroon invites candidates to apply for the vacancy Child Protection Manager. The position will be responsible for overseeing DRC’s child protection programming in NW/SW Cameroon through its Buea office.

Responsibilities 

The Childer Protection Manager will  be responsible for the following tasks

  • Managing the successful implementation of DRC’s child protection programming in the NW/SW region of Cameroon according to targets and objectives
  • Supporting the development of new DRC child protection projects in line with DRC’s program strategy for the region/country program
  • Producing timely internal and external reporting in line with donor requirements
  • Collaborating with DRC’s information management officer to successfully monitor as well as evaluating DRC’s child protection programming outputs/outcomes
  • Building program staff technical capacity in line with project requirements.
  • Also, managing DRC’s child protection project budget’s in coordination with the area and support service managers in line with donor requirements.
  • Furthermore, attending relevant external coordination meetings when necessary.

Requirements 

Candidates must have extensive experience in a complex crisis environment and should also be willing to adapt to a challenging security context. In particular, the candidate must have the following qualifications to be eligible for this vacancy in the Danish Refugee Council in Cameroon

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in a related field. However, a master’s degree preferred.
  • In addition to that, three years of experience managing protection/child protection projects in complex crises.
  • Proficiency in common computer packages and financial software i.e. Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.
  • Fluent English speaker as well as solid experience in staff management in a cross-cultural environment.
  • Furthermore, the ability to manage and support multi-sector programs including operational planning and problem-solving.

The Danish Refugee Council is one of the central humanitarian actors in Syria and the neighboring countries. More than 500,000 persons receive emergency relief from DRC each month in the region. Moreover, the situation in and around Syria is the largest humanitarian crisis the world is facing and 30% of the population have left their homes as a consequence of the violence. In Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Turkey and Iraq, DRC distributes relief aid in the form of mattresses, clothes, blankets and hygiene kits, gives educational assistance in terms of remedial classes and classes for the dropped out students, and rehabilitates shelters. Inside Syria, DRC also helps displaced and conflict-affected Syrians in Homs, Daraa, Hama, Aleppo, and Damascus.
