Introduction:
The Egyptian higher education system is a contributing factor to the economic growth of the country. High youth unemployment rates and long periods of transition between graduation and employment suggest gaps in the quality and relevance of university curricula and the lack of efficient career advisory services. Also, unemployment and under-employment are even more severe for young women, low-income youth, and young people with disabilities. Equal access to higher education is a further challenge. Significantly, the growth areas of the economy depend on skills in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). Additionally, employers are also demanding better core skills for employability, such as English language, communication skills, 21st century skills and business skills.
Duties
- Identify communication and information needs and priorities, and provide technical advice to HELW team on appropriate communication approaches and products to best reflect key messages and target different audiences.
- Also, Develop a strategy and deliver quality, timely and widely accessible communication and information products.
- Additionally, develop and follow up on a corporate communication identity in line with DFID and ILO branding requirements including producing a project factsheet.
- Moreover, maintain and compile HELW library for photos and audio-visuals of the programs activities that can be utilized on different occasions.
- Likewise, as part of ILO DWT/CO Cairo team, provide inputs and feedback as requested to the drafting of communication materials in accordance with the strategic priorities established by the Country Office, Regional Office and headquarters.
- Also, ensure proper coordination and alignment with the other consortium partners and provide capacity development to them on communication matters whenever needed.
- Furthermore, perform other relevant duties as assigned by supervisor.
Required qualifications
Education
First level university degree in communication, social science, management, or related field.
Experience
- At least 2 years of relevant professional experience within the international development context.
- Also, previous experience and knowledge on communication
- Furthermore, field work and experience coordinating with local, national and other key stakeholders regarding communication
- Moreover, familiarity and previous work experience with the ILO or other UN agencies would be an added advantage.
- Likewise, ideally previous experience in supporting DFID and or higher education projects
Languages
Excellent command of written and spoken English. Good knowledge of Arabic.
Competencies
- Ability to provide technical advice and to guide and coordinate the work of external collaborators and general service staff in the area of specialization.
- Also, ability to analyze cross-national practices and data sets covering a wide range of issues in the specialized technical field.
- Additionally, capacity to draft quality reports and prepare guidelines relating to program development and implementation.
- Moreover, potentially to provide technical support to senior specialists, carrying out research, project formulation and implementation.
- Likewise, to participate effectively in technical missions and to provide technical inputs for the ILO Decent Work Agenda.
- Also, excellent analytical skills and knowledge of analytical tools and qualitative and quantitative techniques.
- Similarly, strong relations with partners and stakeholders.
- Additionally, ability to manage competing priorities.
