Summary:

Under the overall guidance of the Regional Director, the direct supervision of the Regional Project Development Officer, the consultant will assist the Regional Support Unit take stock of current knowledge management practices, gaps and opportunities and develop a approach and accompanying framework to operationalize a knowledge management platform for the region, including identifying key knowledge management products to be developed.

Duties:

• KM needs and priorities of the Regional Office and Country Offices
• KM infrastructure and tools available in IOM and specifically the regional office,
• Also, practices (Knowledge, attitude, and practices) at RO and Country level that impact on the effective use of migration knowledge and knowledge products in the regional office.
• Based on the outcomes and recommendations of the assessment, develop a regional knowledge management approach and accompanying framework, including an implementation and monitoring plan.
• Likewise, conduct a validation workshop to present the KM approach and accompanying framework to RO senior management and KM mission focal points.
• Moreover, train KM focal points on basic principles of KM and build capacity on the implementation of the KM approach and accompanying framework.
• Identify key KM resources/products on migration and relevant migration thematic areas to be prioritized.
• Similarly, establishment of Knowledge Management Café on specific thematic and programmatic areas targeting priority partners such as the Regional Economic Communities and donors.

Education:

• University degree in Information Studies, Social Sciences or related field; Education in a migration and/or development related field an asset.
• Also, background in knowledge management and/or communication an asset.
• Over five years’ experience in Knowledge Management
• Likewise, excellent track record on KM system development.
• Experience in conducting assessments and report writing.
• Excellent writing skills.
• Similarly, strong conceptual and analytical abilities.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Experience in working for international organizations and/or international context.
• Also, ability to work effectively and harmoniously in a team of colleagues of varied cultural and professional backgrounds.
