United Nations has announced vacancy for the Program Associate at United Nations in Kathmandu, Nepal. Interested applicants can apply until 8th February 2020.

  • The Provincial and Local Governance Support Programme (PLGSP) is the national flagship program of the Government of Nepal (GoN) to build institutional, organizational and individual capacity at all levels of government, with special focus on the provincial and local levels.
  • Also, the ultimate goal of the program is to attain functional, sustainable, inclusive and accountable provincial and local governance.
  • Additionally, the Program aims to contribute to the delivery of quality services at provincial and local levels, promote better local infrastructure and enhance economic prosperity.

Responsibilities

The incumbents will do the following duties

  • They should assist NPM and the PCU(Program Co-ordination Unit) team in the formulation of the annual and quarterly work plans with particular attention to human resource and procurement plans
  • Also, they will support the timely implementation of HR and procurement plans by preparing all necessary documents as per the Government rules and regulations
  • Additionally, they must support in drafting internal and external correspondence especially related to procurement, recruitment, resource mobilization, partnership building, etc.
  • In addition to that, they must support in organizing workshops, seminars, training, and other events
  • Also, they should support in planning and coordination for the other program activities
  • Additionally, arrange external and internal meetings with government, non-government, UN agencies, development partners and other potential partners and stakeholders, and maintain minutes of all program-related meetings
  • They should also provide logistical support in organizing the Technical
  • Similarly, the incumbents will maintain a filing system for the program to ensure all program-related materials are properly documented and easily accessible
  • Moreover, they must facilitate in creating an environment to address GESI issues
  • Also, they should assist in ensuring gender and inclusion issues in managing events and preparing reports where ever possible. Assist in managing the various contracts with implementing partners
  • Furthermore, they should support the program in conducting training for implementing partners on corporate rules and regulations related to financial management, audit, reporting, and program implementation

Eligibility

The candidates must meet the following requirements to be eligible for the Program Associate at United Nations

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Management, Finance, Accounting, Administration, or Human Resource Management

Language Requirements:

  • Fluent command of spoken and written Nepali and English language.

Experience

  • Three years of experience in the field of administration, and finance and procurement;
  • Sound understanding of the sustainable development goals (SDGs) and their implications to the local governance;
  • Also, proven ability to work with multiple partners such as the Governments at different levels, NGOs, UN agencies, international development partners
  • Likewise, knowledge of GoN and UNDP’s project planning, project finance, and project management procedures will be a strong asset.
  • Display cultural, gender, religion, race, nationality and age sensitivity and adaptability
  • Also, good interpersonal skills
  • Clear and upfront communication skills
  • Additionally, they should have the ability to treat all people fairly without favoritism
  • Collaborate effectively in a team environment
  • Similarly, they should demonstrate the ability to identify and anticipate bottlenecks, as well as seek guidance
  • Also, they should showcase the ability to maintain a high level of accuracy, confidentiality concerning financial and employee files
