Summary

The position is located in the Technology Bank for the Least Developed Countries (TBLDCs) whose office is based in Gebze, Turkey. The Programme Management Officer reports to the Managing Director of the Technology Bank. For more information, please see https://www. un.org/technologybank/.

Duties

The Program Manager does the following duties

• Develops, implements, and evaluates assigned programs/projects, etc.; monitors and analyzes program/project development and implementation; reviews relevant documents and reports; identifies problems and issues to be addressed and initiates corrective actions; liaises with relevant parties; ensures follow-up actions.
• Also, the incumbent researches, analyzes, and presents information gathered from diverse sources.
• Organizes and prepares written outputs, e.g. draft background papers, analysis, sections of reports and studies, inputs to publications, etc.
• Likewise, provides substantive backstopping to consultative and other meetings, conferences, etc., to include proposing agenda topics, identifying participants, preparation of documents and presentations, etc.
• Additionally, initiates and coordinates outreach and resource mobilization activities.

Qualifications for Vacancy for Program Management Officer

Education

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent degree) in natural or social sciences, engineering, business administration, public administration, international relations, law, political science, management, economics, or a related field is required. Additionally, the organization may accept a first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Work Experience

• A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in project or program management, administration, or related area
• Likewise, experience in the Least Developed Countries’ socio-economic development
• Also,  in resource mobilization is desirable.
• Also, experience in administering science technology, and innovation programs are desirable.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the UN Secretariat. For this vacancy, candidates must have fluency in English, and knowledge of French is desirable. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
