Apply for the Vacancy for Senior Gender Adviser at NRC in Norway. The prime focus of the IASC Gender Capacity Standby Project (GenCap) remains to strengthen the humanitarian system’s leadership and capacity to deliver on commitments to gender equality.
Duties
- Work at a strategic level with a wide range of humanitarian actors, including at senior decision-making level and in an inter-agency capacity, as well as to make gender equality programming practical to a variety of stakeholders
- Also, plan work assignments, establish priorities and meet strict deadlines
- Likewise, engage individuals and organizations on all levels to achieve common goals
- Furthermore, demonstrate consistency in upholding and promoting humanitarian values and principles in actions and decisions, in line with the Norwegian Refugee Council’s and UN Agencies’ Codes of Conduct
- Additionally, build support for the project, and navigate the inter-agency architecture and mechanisms, as well as stakeholder’s mandates, frameworks, and tools to achieve objectives
Qualifications
- A Masters Degree in Gender studies, or a related field
- Also, a minimum of 7 years of relevant gender experience currently working at a minimum of P4 level
- Additionally, a minimum of 5 years of relevant humanitarian experience within an international environment within the field of gender
- Furthermore, hands-on senior coordination and leadership experience in humanitarian settings is highly regarded
- Likewise, demonstrable understanding of and ability to navigate within the UN inter-agency architecture both in humanitarian and/or development settings, understanding of UN agencies’ mandates, experience applying main humanitarian frameworks and tools
- Similarly, strong advocacy skills and experience at senior level
Personal qualities
- Self-motivated, with good judgment and initiative and the ability to work with others
- Stay composed and positive even in difficult moments. Likewise, handle tense situations with diplomacy and tact, and have a consistent behavior towards others
- Also, demonstrate aptitude to build and utilize effective partnerships with a diverse group of stakeholders
- Additionally, able to prioritize and achieve results through collaboration
- Moreover, the candidate must be flexible and adaptive to change
