Duties
The incumbent will do the following tasks
- Develop and execute a social media and digital marketing strategy for the Climate Program informed by methodical analytics and latest best practices
- Also, develop and execute strategic communication plans to support high-priority projects within the Climate Program, working with staff and leadership across the Institute to identify outreach opportunities and highlight WRI research, analysis, and experts in the media
- Work with communications and research experts to oversee efficient execution of existing communications processes regarding publications and communications activities
- Likewise, work with WRI’s Department of Communications to enhance WRI’s visibility through online communications, media outreach, internal/external events, and other venues as appropriate
- Furthermore, coordinate with research staff across WRI’s programs, centers and international offices to support global projects as well as identify opportunities for more impactful collaboration across teams
- Work with experts to develop compelling concept notes, presentations and a messaging about WRI’s analysis and initiatives
- Also, develop and execute creative ways to translate analysis and policy recommendations into compelling storylines, including through multimedia online content, such as videos, photos, and infographics
Qualifications
The candidate should meet the given criteria
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Two+ years of full-time relevant professional experience working in public relations, journalism, or communications with salient link to climate, energy or broader environmental issues
- Also, proven ability to lead the planning, coordination, and execution of communications products, influence strategies, and audience targeting
- Experience overseeing institutional social media platforms and regularly tracking analytics to inform social media outreach strategies
- Furthermore, experience managing paid social media campaigns
- Also, in using the latest social media management platforms such as Hootsuite
- Experience with communications planning, publications development, marketing, and other specialized communications skills
- Similarly, strong communication skills and ability to produce materials focused on diverse external audiences
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with reporters or members of the media (and established media contacts)
- Also, experience working in a large US or global organization
- Likewise, existing relationships with influential business, energy or environmental reporters at leading media outlets
