About position

University College Birmingham Business School is seeking Lecturer in Accounting and Finance. Areas of specialism may include Auditing Theory and Practice, Taxation, Management Accounting; Cost Accounting, Accounting and Information Systems; Financial Management and Reporting; International Finance; Risk Management; Strategic Financial Management; Financial Markets and Investment.

In particular, the incumbent will perform the following functions

  • Generally, duties include teaching, tutorials, and student assessment.
  • Management of learning programs and curriculum development.
  • Assist with student admissions, educational guidance, preparation of learning materials and student assignments.
  • Similarly, management and supervision of student visit programs, research and other forms of scholarly activity.
  • Setting and marking of students’ work as well as marking of examinations.
  • Marketing activities, administration, and personal professional development.
  • Maintain the highest professional standards and to promote and implement the policies of the Corporation.
  • Furthermore, complete any other additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • University degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant area. In addition to that, work experience in a relevant professional setting.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; sound organization and administrative ability. Similarly, the ability to offer teaching expertise in a range of Accounting and Finance modules.
  • Proficient IT skills, to include Microsoft and presentation products.
  • Also, confident to work independently, with autonomy and in response to deadlines as well as the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Ability to translate skills and experience in effective teaching and learning.
