‘Ever to Excel or Ever To Be The Best’ is the motto of University of St Andrews. It is Scotland’s oldest and highest-ranking university, which was founded in 1413. Moreover, the university is the third oldest in the English speaking world after University of Oxford and University of Cambridge. The university comprises three colleges, namely, United College (a union of St Salvator’s and St Leonard’s Colleges), St Mary’s College, and St Leonard’s College. Furthermore, it has 18 academic schools organised into four faculties. Also, the university has ranking as the third best university in the United Kingdom. Above all, the university is in 97th position in the QS World University Rankings 2019. The university also has affiliations with Six Nobel Laureates.

University of St Andrews makes its education for students through various scholarships. The scholarships are based on the basis of merit, need, sports abilities, faculties and more. Some of the scholarships include Accommodation Award, St Andrews General Wardlaw Scholarship (Margery V Turnbull Scholarship). One particular scholarship is the International Excellence Scholarship. It is available to applicants who are gifted students having academic excellence. The successful scholars need to fulfil an ambassadorial role as well as represent the University at a number of events.

Eligibilities

  • International students who will be studying at St Andrews for an undergraduate degree starting in 2019 with an overseas fee status.
  • Available to students in all faculties excluding Medicine
  • You should to provide a statement of motivation in support of your application (not more than 250 words). This should include your reasons for applying for the Scholarship, explaining how you would expect to benefit from the opportunities the award provides, and describing how you think you might contribute to the community while studying at the University of St Andrews.
  • You should also to provide two references; both an academic and personal letter of recommendation (not more than 200 words each).
