University of Leeds is a public research university in Leeds, England. Having the motto of ‘And knowledge will be increased’, the university establishment dates to 1874 as the Yorkshire College of Science. It lies in the top 20 in the world for graduate employability. Moreover, the university has affiliations with 6 Nobel Laureates. Furthermore, Leeds was in 19th position amongst multi-faculty institutions in the UK for the quality (GPA) of its research. Above all, the university is in 93rd position in the QS World University Rankings 2019. Also, it is the fifth largest university in the UK in terms of student numbers.

University of Leeds is the 4th most popular university by volume of applications in the UK . Besides the quality of education it offers, the scholarships for students also plays a vital role. The university provides a range of scholarships on the basis of merit as well as faculty. One of the high awarding scholarship is the Biological Sciences Dean’s Excellence Scholarship. It is a award depending upon the academic achievements of the students.

Eligibility Criteria

  • High achieving A2 (A*AA), IB (37) and AP (555) students in their first year (subsequent years would be subject to achieving normally 70% overall mark) OR high achieving (equivalent to normally 85% overall).
  • Applicants must be self-funding, new to the University of Leeds, enter onto level 1 and classified as international for tuition fee purposes and not be in receipt of any other University of Leeds award.
  • Students must achieve a yearly attainment percentage of 70%. The scholarship will be withheld in a year where a student fails to achieve 70%, but will be reinstated the following year if the student’s performance recovers to 70% or over.
  • Self-funding students who successfully complete the International Foundation Year (IFY) at Leeds will also be eligible for this bursary.
  • Foundation degree students in their first year (subsequent years would be subject to achieving normally 70% overall mark)

Award Worth

£5,000 per year subject to satisfactory progression.
