Applications have opened for the University of Pittsburgh Poetry Competition. The name of the competition is Agnes Lynch Starrett Poetry Prize 2020. Interested candidates can apply for the competition until 30th April 2020.
- Established in 1981, the Agnes Lynch Starrett Poetry Prize is administered by the University of Pittsburgh Press. Named in honor of Agnes Lynch Starrett, the Press’s first director, the prize is awarded for the first full-length book of poems.

- Furthermore, Pittsburgh Press as part of the Pitt Poetry Series. The series is edited by Ed Ochester, who also serves as the final judge in the Starrett competition.
Eligibility
The candidate should meet the given requirements for the University of Pittsburgh Poetry Competition
- The award is open to any poet writing in English who has not had a full-length book of poetry published previously.
- A “full-length book” of poetry is has a volume of 48 or more pages published in an edition of 500 or more copies.
