Applications call for British Council IELTS Prize. IELTS test is trusted by educational institutions and universities globally could take you to even further, opening doors to your ideal academic field, institution, and destination. British Council will select ten lucky IELTS takers to award with IELTS prize. The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is an international standardized test of English language proficiency for non-native English language speakers. It is jointly managed by the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia and Cambridge Assessment English, and was established in 1989. IELTS is one of the major English-language tests in the world, others being the TOEFL, TOEIC, PTE: A, and OPI/OPIc.

The main aim of the prize is to help students to turn their academic dreams into reality. The IELTS Prize is open to test takers living in Colombia, India, Pakistan, Nigeria, United Arab Emirates or Uzbekistan.


  • Candidates must be 18 years or above and candidates must live in the country they are applying from.
  • Candidates must have taken IELTS with British Council between January 2019 and February 2020.
  • They must have an overall IELTS band score of 5 or above.
  • Applicants must be applying for a first-year under/graduate degree in Fall 2020/Spring 2021.
  • Furthermore, applicants must be applying to an institution that requires IELTS as part of its admission process.


Ten lucky IELTS test-takers in each of the eligible countries will receive £3,000.

Eligible Countries 

The IELTS Prize is open to IELTS exam takers who are living in Colombia, India, Pakistan, Nigeria, United Arab Emirates or Uzbekistan.


The last date to apply for this award is 29th February 2020.
