Applications call for Facebook Developer Circles Community Challenge 2020.

This time around, the program invites participants to go a step beyond building software solutions by creating tutorials about the code they’ve created. Winners are eligible to receive up to US$133,000 in cash prizes, Oculus VR headsets, and fully credited amplification of their tutorials to millions of other developers across Facebook’s ecosystem.

The program also broadening the products that competing innovators can build with; now spanning Open Source technologies including Docusaurus, Hack, Pytorch, React and React Native, as well as Messenger, Spark AR, and Wit.ai. Within each of these products, this is an enormous opportunity for you and your teammates to connect, learn, and build together, all while sharing your journey step-by-step through immersive tutorials for fellow tech enthusiasts.

Funding

Winners of Facebook Developer Circles Community Challenge will receive US$ 133,000 in cash prizes and have their written tutorials credited and shared amongst millions of developers and creators across the Facebook ecosystem.

Eligibility

Facebook Developer Circles Community Challenge is open to a person who

  • Are at least 18 years old and the age of majority in their jurisdiction of residence.
  • Speak English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Arabic, and/or Indonesian.
  • Have internet access and developer experience.
  • At the time of entry and throughout the entire Challenge have Facebook, Git Hub, and Devpost online accounts in good standing.
  • Also are not domiciled in Quebec, Crimea, Cuba, Sudan, Iran, North Korea, China, or Syria, or on any program or country list designated by the United States Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control), or where the laws of the United States or local law prohibits their participation or receiving a prize in any contest (each an “individual”).
  • Team of up to four (4) eligible individuals may enter and participate as wells.

Requirements

Create a step-by-step written tutorial that demonstrates the use of one or more features of any of the technologies below

  • Open Source: Hack, React, React Native, PyTorch, Docusaurus
  • Spark AR
  • Wit.ai
  • Messenger Platform

Judging Criteria

  • Quality of the Tutorial (30%)
  • Implementation of Facebook products (30%)
  • Clarity (20%)
  • Relevance (20%)
