Frederick Soddy Trust is a linked charity of RGS-IBG providing Frederick Soddy Awards to support the school and student fieldwork as well as expeditions.

Schools often find it difficult to compete successfully for funds from the main grant-giving bodies or to allocate their resources to field studies. The Frederick Soddy Schools Awards aim to encourage field studies by providing financial support specifically for this work.

Eligibility

• The grants are for the teachers leading teams of school pupils.
• Also, the school should be from the UK OR Ireland

Application Process

Please submit your completed application form to [email protected], along with a short CV of the project leader.

Selection Process

The expert panel will review all applications and award the prize money ranging from £200 to £600 depending on the merit of the project. The announcement of the results of the awards will be in writing to all applicants by the end of March.

Conditions

1. There will be no funding for the purchase of equipment.
2. Conduction of the project should be in an ethical and responsible manner
3. Also, the recipients must fulfil all their institution’s health and safety requirements and ethical approvals
4. Successful applicants will need to submit a risk assessment approved by their institution before releasing the funding.
5. The teacher should submit a written report electronically by the end of the calendar year in which the award was given.
6. The report should contain at least three high-resolution digital images that capture the spirit of the project.
7. Failure to submit reports may jeopardise future applications to these awards.
8. Also, you should include a statement acknowledging the support of the Frederick Soddy Schools Awards in the report and in any other outputs.
9. Award details may be published on the Society’s website and in other publications.
