FreshCo Community Action Fund 2025

At FreshCo and Chalo! FreshCo, they are committed to making a meaningful difference in the communities they serve. The Community Action Fund is dedicated to supporting initiatives that promote the mental and physical health of children and families, and they invite eligible nonprofits to apply.

The FreshCo and Chalo! FreshCo team has a long history of giving back and now their local communities need them more than ever. That’s why they created the Community Action Fund. In the early days of the pandemic, their passionate network of stores and teammates connected with their local communities to create localized solutions that helped address their most urgent needs. They trust that their store teams know their communities best; that’s how the Community Action Fund was able to direct food and funds to make an immediate, meaningful difference.

Benefits of Community Action Fund

• Healthy Bodies: Receive funding to remove barriers and ensure more Canadians have access to healthy and affordable food. This includes support for food banks, school lunch programs, and other food-based initiatives.
• Healthy Minds: Secure grants for early interventions in child and youth mental health. The partnership with Canada’s Children’s Hospital Foundations and other local mental health programs aims to create a comprehensive support system for young minds.

Eligibility for Community Action Fund

• The organization must be a Canadian Registered Charity;
• The donation request is for under $10,000;
• The event or project must directly benefit the communities where FreshCo operates in;
• The donation request is for a donation vs an event sponsorship;
• Eligibility is dependent on the organization agreeing to provide a follow up report that identifies their measures of success;
• The organization must align with one or both areas of support listed above (healthy bodies and healthy minds.
