Applications call for Kick Start Coding Competition 2020

Kick Start is a global online coding competition, consisting of three-hour rounds of a variety of algorithmic challenges designed by Google engineers. Participants can compete in one or all online rounds held throughout the year, and will have the opportunity to develop and grow their programming abilities while getting a glimpse into the technical skills needed for a career at Google (top participants may be invited to interview at Google).

Benefits

Kick Start offers coders around the world the chance to develop and hone their programming skills through online-hosted competition rounds. The three-hour rounds feature a variety of algorithmic challenges, all developed by Google engineers so that you get a taste of the technical skills needed for a career at Google (the top competitors from our Kick Start rounds may be invited to interview at Google!).

Participation

Register for Kick Start once on the website and candidates will be set up to compete in any round candidates would like. When each round is open, the three-hour countdown begins and you’ll compete on the website solving algorithmic and mathematical problems. Following the round, candidates can check out your rankings and the round analysis. If they were a top competitor, they may be contacted by Google for a chance to interview.

Eligibilities

In order to enter a Contest, candidates must have access to the Internet and should have a valid email address. Google reserves the right to verify the eligibility and to adjudicate on any dispute at any time. Candidates must agree to provide Google with any proof of eligibility requested by Google and the refusal or failure to provide such proof within ten (10) days of Google’s request will result in disqualification from a Contest and forfeiture of any prizes. Furthermore, all communications between Google and you, including a Contest website and email communications, must be in English.

Ineligibilities

Candidates cannot participate in a Contest and will be immediately disqualified and forfeit all of their prizes if they are or become

  • a resident of Quebec.
  • a resident of Crimea, Iran, North Korea, Syria, or other US embargoed countries.
  • ordinarily, a resident in a US embargoed country.
  • otherwise prohibited by applicable export controls and sanctions programs.
  • a resident anywhere that a Contest is prohibited by law.
  • a current employee (including intern), contractor, officer, or director of Google or any of its affiliates.

Candidates must carefully review the Coding Competitions Terms and the Kick Start Rules first; as many of the questions regarding eligibility, contest structure, prizes, grounds for disqualification, and more are addressed there.
