The ICIMOD Mountain Prize recognizes and awards individual, organization, or private sector entity based in the Hindu Kush Himalaya (HKH) or beyond that has demonstrated outstanding efforts enabling sustainable and resilient mountain development in the HKH region to benefit the environment as well as communities – particularly the poor, the youth, and women. Similarly, ICIMOD announces a call for nominations for its second annual Mountain Prize 2019.
Individuals, organizations, or companies that have brought about transformative change in the HKH are eligible for nomination. Particularly, ICIMOD encourages nominations for individuals or organizations with achievements in any of the following fields:
ICIMOD awards the Prize to the most eligible Individual or organization who has proven work in the HKH area. Moreover, the prize for ICIMOD is currently $5,000.
Individuals or organizations may nominate a candidate who meets the eligibility criteria including their own organization. However, self-nomination by an individual is not eligible.
Moreover, the nomination process may be accomplished by filling out the nomination form available at the website.
A panel of judges will assess the submitted nominations and may invite appraisals by external experts to decide on the winner. They may contact the nominator, nominee, and referee(s) for more information.
The panel will pick the winner and honorable mentions based on the following criteria:
ICIMOD will accept the nomination for the Mountain Prize until 31 August 2019.
