The International Labour Organization (ILO) is launching the tenth edition of its annual Global Media Competition, aimed at recognizing fair and balanced media reports on labour migration. This competition plays a vital role in encouraging accurate, nuanced coverage of migrant workers’ contributions and challenges, which is essential in combating harmful stereotypes and misinformation. Negative media narratives often fuel discrimination, xenophobia, and abusive practices against migrant workers, making it critical to promote informed reporting. By celebrating responsible journalism, the ILO seeks to raise awareness about the rights of migrant workers, highlight their positive impact on economies, and support the development of inclusive, equitable policies that protect these individuals within the global labour market.
