International Water Association calls application for 2020 IWA Women in Water Award

The IWA Women in Water award acknowledges and celebrates female leadership in the field of water. Through this award, the IWA recognizes those women working in the field of water who; through their demonstrated leadership, have had a significant positive impact on the development of the industry.

Purpose

The award showcases an individual’s excellence in leadership as demonstrated by outstanding initiatives, the impact of work and inspiration to others. The award recognizes the role women play in the sector but also seeks to encourage the greater participation of women in the water sector and hopes to motivate more women to pursue leadership positions within the sector.

Prize 

The International Water Association will invite and award the selected winner in the IWA World Water Congress and Exhibition from October 18 to 26 2020 in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Eligibilities

  • Open to all women working in the water industry.
  • Demonstrable leadership within the sector which has had a positive impact on the advancement of water management.
  • Demonstrable contributions towards the development of future leaders/
  • Also, demonstrable contributions towards IWA and/or other water-related groups, Associations or institutions.

The IWA World Water Congress & Exhibition is the global event for water professionals covering the entire water cycle. As Congress rotates through cities and countries each event has an extra emphasis on issues of specific interest to the region. #WorldWaterCongress & Exhibition will report on the water sector progress on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The emphasis will be on SDG6, which is dedicated to water and sanitation. The event will also highlight and explore the interwoven relation of water with all 17 of the global SDGs.
