The NEWH Green Voice Design Competition provides students with the opportunity to showcase their design skills while utilizing the very best in sustainable design products and practices. Our sponsors have generously donated the awards – one to the winning undergraduate student and one to the winning graduate student with airfare/lodging to the awards event at HD Expo in Las Vegas, Nevada provided.

Winner of the NEWH Green Voice Design Competition

The selection committee will select two winners for the NEWH Green voice design contest- an undergraduate and a graduate student. Each winner will receive an amount of $7,500 in scholarship. Further, the winners must attend the HD Expo in Las Vegas, Nevada to receive the scholarship award. NEWH will cover the traveling expenses as well as accommodation and meal of students to attend the award ceremony.

To receive the scholarship, you must be a currently enrolled student with past, current or upcoming debt through your college for tuition or program approved books/supplies. Awarded scholarship funds are payable to and mailed directly to student’s college (only). If a graduate student doesn’t win the prize because of not meeting project criteria, the graduate scholarship funds will go towards funding the interiors program of the winning undergraduate recipient’s school, and vice versa. Moreover, the interiors program may utilize the award to enhance the educational needs or materials of the design studio.

Eligibility for the NEWH Green Voice Design Challenge

In order to be eligible for the NEWH Green Voice Design Competition, the candidates must be:

• Interior Design or Architecture students only; undergraduate (in a 4-year program) or graduate students attending an accredited college.
• Likewise, up to (2) students majoring in Interior Design or Architecture (only) may work together as a team. If awarded, students would split the $7,500 scholarship. Each student would receive paid travel and lodging to the awards event.
• Winner(s) must be able to attend the awards event with travel/lodging provided. The event is held in May annually at HD Expo in Las Vegas, Nevada. If unable to attend the awards event, the student may select (1) college representative to attend on their behalf.

How to apply for the NEWH Green Voice Design Competition?

Students can enter their project in the NEWH Green Voice Design Competition that follows the design criteria. Along with the project, the students must also submit:

• Design Intent Narrative – max 500-word essay describing design intent and project description
• Narrative – max 500-word essay describing why a developer might be interested as well as how is the building/city/market desirable
• Likewise, a biography about you, the designer – max 500 words
• Also, Student Resume
• Project Submittal Form 
• Optional: 10 (ten) Minute video presentation about your concept.

Students must submit the application via email.

Deadline

The submission period for the NEWH Green Voice Design Contest is until 3 January 2020. Applications arriving after the deadline are invalid.
