Details

PLURAL+ Youth Video Festival 2019 is calling for applications. The United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) have taken a joint initiative for the launch of the PLURAL+ Youth Video Festival. The festival recognizes youth as powerful agents of social change and empowers them to share their vision with the world. Thus, it invites young people around the world to submit original and creative videos focusing on the pressing social issues of migration, diversity, social inclusion, and the prevention of xenophobia.

Award

PLURAL+ winners will receive an invitation (travel and accommodations expenses paid) to attend the PLURAL+ Awards Ceremony held in New York City in November 2019. Furthermore, they can attend a series of side events providing opportunities for professional development, co-productions, and networking.

An International Jury will select one PLURAL+ Award winners in each of three age categories (up to 12 years old; 13 to 17 years old; and 18 to 25 years old), and in addition, UNAOC and IOM will jointly select one video to receive the Special Award for the Prevention of Xenophobia. PLURAL+ partner organizations will also award a multitude of prizes and professional opportunities to several young filmmakers.

Eligibility

  • Entrants to PLURAL+ must be at most 25 years old at the time of the production of their videos.
  • Likewise, PLURAL+ video entries must be:
  1. Between one and five minutes in length, including title(s) and opening/closing credits
  2. In English or include English subtitles
  3. In addition, PLURAL+ video entries can be of any genre (animation, documentary, music video, comedy, etc.) as long as they have the potential to make the audience think in constructive ways about the PLURAL+ themes – migration, diversity, social inclusion, and the prevention of xenophobia.
  • The person submitting the video must be actively involved in its making, for example, as a director, writer, camera person, editor, actor, coordinator, etc.
