UN Technology Innovation Labs are accepting applications for the Reboot the Earth Tech Challenge 2019.
Reboot the Earth Challenge is as a social coding event that brings young computer programmers, scientists and other interested people together. Under the auspices of the United Nations to improve upon or build a new software program that addresses the current climate crisis.
Through a series of Tech Challenge in four continents, young people, including students will be presented. Further, with the opportunity to use open data and tech concepts to solve a local climate crisis. That may be unique to each location and its community needs. The participants will follow the Principles for Digital Development. Which form by United Nations Agencies Funds and Programmes and endorsed by International Organizations worldwide.
Moreover, Climate change is one of the most critical global challenges and today’s youth population is faced with a future that is threatened by its impact. However, they also present an extraordinary opportunity for urgent action as agents of change. Also, creators of innovative climate solutions. Through a series of hackathons in four continents, young people, including students will be presented. Further, with the opportunity to use open data and apply tech concepts and practices to solve the climate crisis, depending on the community needs and location, the hackathons can focus on a platform such as mobile apps, a desktop operating system, web development or video game development.
