Details

The Royal Over-Seas League proudly announces the 2021 ROSL Photography Competition on the theme ‘International Friendship’. To capture contemporary culture in the Commonwealth all images submitted must be taken in the past year (from 7 September 2020), relate to the chosen theme and have a link to current countries of the Commonwealth. This competition is open to photographers 18+ and is FREE to enter!

Categories

The ROSL Photography Competition has two categories and applicants may submit up to 5 images across both categories to be judged individually

  • Camera
  • Mobile Phone

Prizes

  • Camera winner will receive £2,000, a trip to the clubhouse exhibition opening, a day of professional tutoring and their winning image will be published in the Overseas magazine.
  • Mobile Phone winner will receive £1,000 and their winning image will be published in the Overseas magazine.
  • Young Photographer winner will receive £500 as part of ‘The Madiha Aijaz prize for a young photographer of promise’ which will be chosen solely by judge Farah Mahbub in memory of her colleague and friend.
  • Top 20 images will be displayed in the Over-Seas House Exhibition.

Image Entry Criteria

  • Images can be manipulated; however, the manipulation must be clearly outlined within the image description.
  • Images must have been taken within the 12 months prior to the competition deadline.
  • Images must not have been published prior to submission, social media sharing and website posts are permitted, but any use for marketing or print will disallow the image.
  • Images must conform to the size regulations stated.
  • All images must be saved in the CMYK colour model and EXIF data must be left in the image file.
  • All entries across both categories should be a ratio of 4:3 or 3:2
  • All entrants must be able to supply a high resolution image suitable for printing in media and an exhibition should the image be required, 300 dpi
  • Landscape and portrait images are welcome.
  • All submitted images must be clear of any copyright information so that the photographer’s identity is not revealed by the image for the sake of the judging process.
