Developing models and analytical approaches that identify patterns and insights in our experimental data can help scientists more accurately choose seeds that increase the productivity of the crops we plant – and will help address the growing global food demand. Syngenta invites candidates to participate in Syngenta Crop Challenge in Analytics 2020.

Prizes of Syngenta Crop Challenge in Analytics 

• $5,000 for the first place
• $2,500 for the second place
• $1,000for the third place

In the event that submissions of sufficient quality are not submitted to justify the awarding of all three prizes, the award committee reserves the right to eliminate any or all of the prize levels.

Application Criteria

The entries will depend on:

• Accuracy of the predicted values in the test set based on root mean squared error.
• Simplicity and intuitiveness of the solution.
• The clarity in the explanation.
• The quality and clarity of the finalist’s presentation at the 2020 INFORMS Conference on Business Analytics and Operations Research.

Application and criteria

• The competition is open to all participants 18 years of age or older, where allowable by-law, except people or organizations who work under a major seed company or their affiliates.
• Submissions are due before midnight Eastern Time, January 21, 2020. Submissions must be made electronically via the challenge website at https://www.ideaconnection.com/syngenta-crop-challenge/.
