In the context of the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction 2024 under the theme “Empowering the next generation for a resilient future” the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) is pleased to announce the launch of a Youth Art Competition.
Young artists – amateurs or professionals- are encouraged to submit a piece that fits into IDDRR2024 theme and raise awareness on Disaster Risk Reduction. The photos of the art submitted will be showcased at the Africa Regional Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction in Windhoek, Namibia, scheduled for 21-24 October 2024. The DRR Art Competition organized by Africa Youth Advisory Board on Disaster Risk Reduction (AYAB), Stakeholder Engagement Mechanism (SEM) and UNDRR aims to enhance awareness and understanding of disaster risk reduction (DRR) among young people, while also fostering creativity and artistic expression on the theme of DRR. The competition seeks to showcase the talent, voices and unique perspectives of young artists, inspiring both action and community engagement in DRR efforts.
