UNESCO-Tianjin University Architectural Competition is open for application. The Tianjin University School of Architecture and Chinese media company, Urban Environmental Design (UED), have launched the eighth edition of the 2019 UIA-HYP Cup, an annual, open international competition for architecture students from all over the world. UNESCO and UIA support in the organization of this competition.

Created in 2012, the overall theme of this annual competition is architecture in transformation. Moreover, the 2019 edition, Benedetta Tagliabue, jury chair, has chosen the topic “Happy Spaces – Integrating Architecture and Landscape”.  Participants can choose the location of their projects in a degraded urban area, preferably on the periphery (anywhere in the world). Further, the site shall include a construction area and its environment.  It must improve the environment and benefit the surrounding community.

Winners of UNESCO-Tianjin University Architectural Competition

The jury will select twelve winners for the UIA-HYP Cup. One grand winner will receive the first prize cash amounting to $15,000. Further, the prizes are

• First prize (one team): 100,000 RMB (approx. US$15,000)
• Second prize (three teams): 30,000 RMB (approx. US$4,500)
• Third prize (eight teams): 10,000 RMB (approx. US$1,500 eight)

Also, the Honorary mentions will receive awards.

Eligibility

UNESCO-Tianjin University Architectural Competition is open to all architecture and relevant major students around the globe. Full-time on-campus architecture students from accredited institutions can participate alone or as a team with team members of no more than four people and advisors of no more than two. Moreover,  Each participant can only register in one team. Further, each group may only submit one piece of work. Repeated submission is not eligible. Once discovered, the organizing committee owns the right to choose any one of them.

How to apply for UNESCO-Tianjin University Architectural Competition?

Candidates may submit the digital version of drawings and related documents via email.  However, prior to the email, the candidates must register for the competition online.

While submitting the project for the competition, the candidates must include Registration Serial Number (provided during registering) in the e-mail subject line. Moreover, for larger entry, candidates may use file sharing website such as “Wetransfer” or “Googledrive”.

The deadline for submitting for the UNESCO-Tianjin University Architectural Competition is on 30 August 2019.
