Kathmandu Symposia on Advanced Materials (KaSAM) is an initiative of Nepal Polymer Institute (NPI) undertaken to strengthen networking of materials scientists from South Asian Countries with those from the rest of the world and has the motto: Cross-Linking Science and Virtues. The main objective of this biannual series of International Conferences is to provide rigorous discussion forum for the materials scientists on recent advances, challenges and solution paths in different areas of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE). Polymeric Materials will form integral part of KaSAM endeavours. The First and Second KaSAM held in Kathmandu in 2012 and 2014 were highly successful in attracting eminent scientists, young researchers, and students from more than 20 countries across the globe.

The third International Conference KaSAM-2016, which is being organized for the first time in the beautiful city of Pokhara at the lap of Mt. Machhapucchre, in cooperation with Institut für Polymerwerkstoffe (IPW), Merseburg, Germany, will focus on Nanostructured and Bio-related Materials providing a platform for presentation of innovations in MSE from both the academia and industries. The technical programme of the conference will comprise invited lectures, oral and poster sessions providing a survey of recent developments in MSE.

The KaSAM-2016 congress will be accompanied by Second Kathmandu Autumn School on Chemistry and Chemical Technologies (KASChem-2016) in three different cities outside Kathmandu valley (6 days; dates to be fixed in coordination with local hosts; Details about the Autumn School will be distributed in a separate circular). The courses offeredare targeted to the students, young researchers and newcomers in the field and will give an overview of Recent Developments and Research Trends in Synthesis, Characterization and Applications of Nanomaterials.
