The Call for Applications for the 3rd ASEAN Science Diplomats Assembly (SDA) is now open! Held from 25-30 April 2019, in Balanga City, Philippines, the theme of the assembly is “Empowering Science and Technology Leaders for Smart ASEAN”, and designed to facilitate discussions between scientists and policymakers and to strengthen the integration of science and diplomacy in ASEAN.
One of strategic objectives of the ASEAN is to enhance regional and international cooperation to address the issues of climate change, food security, sustainable energy, water sufficiency, and ecological and environmental stability and their impacts on socio-economic development and health through the implementation of mitigation and adaptation measures, training, and capacity and capability building. And in order to achieve this strategic goal, the ASEAN Plan of Action on Science and Technology Innovation (APASTI) 2016-2025 provides platforms, key considerations, strategies, analysis, and recommendations that will guide the ASEAN Committee on Science and Technology (COST) to set the tone for implementation.
