Harvard Project for Asian and International Relations 2018

Program Date: 16th-19th February, 2018

Venue: Harvard University

The HPAIR Harvard Conference brings together 300 attendees from the world’s top universities and 100 speakers to discuss the most pressing issues in the Asia-Pacific region.

Asia’s astounding growth over the past decade has not been without challenges. Solutions to sustainable development remain elusive; alarming human rights abuses against women, refugees, and the LGBTQ community remain unanswered; rising wealth inequality, catalyzed by globalization, remain unaddressed. The 2017 Harvard Conference will offer a platform to cooperatively confront these emerging challenges in Asia through dialogue and exchange that transcend geographical and cultural borders.

Delegates will also get to attend exclusive social events, including formal Opening and Closing ceremonies, an International Night where they can share their cultural heritage through performances, and an Entertainment Night where they can meet other delegates in an informal setting. This year’s Harvard Conference will also feature HPAIRx, an opportunity for delegates to present short TED-style talks to share personal stories that will enlighten and inspire.

Scholarship

One of HPAIR’s primary goals is to enable as many accepted delegates as possible to attend our conferences. We want to honor delegates who have demonstrated extraordinary merit and financial need. With that in mind, HPAIR offers scholarships to accepted delegates. Details are as follows:

Approximately 15 scholarships are available.
Each award will waive the registration fee and guarantee on-campus housing.

Limited potential for awarding a capped travel reimbursement exists based on level of need.

In order to apply for scholarships, you must first complete HPAIR’s general conference application at apply.hpair.org. Submission of the general conference application will grant you access to the Scholarship application. Please keep in mind that the financial aid application’s deadline coincides with the regular application deadline on December 9th, 2017 at 11:59PM EST. Thus, HPAIR recommends completing the general conference application in advance to ensure enough time to complete the scholarship application.

Applying in the regular round for the conference is a strict requirement to have your financial aid application evaluated. Any and all financial aid applications received after December 9th, 2017 will not be considered.
