DiscoverEU is a program of the European Union that gives you the opportunity to discover Europe through learning experiences. Traveling predominantly by rail (there are exceptions to allow those living on islands or in remote areas), you will discover Europe’s stunning landscapes and its variety of cities and towns.
Eligibility
- young people who are born between 1 July 2001 included and 31 December 2003 included;
- with a nationality of one of the Member States of the European Union at the time of the award decision;
- applicants also need to complete the correct ID or passport number on the online application form.
- For this round, there are two exceptions:
- young people who are now 19 or 20 years old can apply after the postponement of their round due to the COVID-19 pandemic travel restrictions.
- applicants from the UK are still allowed to participate.
Application Process
In order to benefit from the action, you will need to submit an application for a DiscoverEU travel pass via https://europa.eu/youth/discovereu once the application period is open.
If you want to travel in a group and also be the group leader, you must apply first and then provide all your group members with your application code. Group members will have to use this code to join your group online.
In order to be selected within the application period mentioned above, all group members have to be 18 years old, submit their data, as well as be eligible for DiscoverEU.
Submission
- Must be submitted through the European Youth Portal.
- Applicants will have to answer 5 multiple choice quiz questions and 1 subsidiary question.
- Selected applicants will be entitled to a travel pass worth EUR 258. Travel will only be in the 2nd class.
Young people with special needs are welcome to participate in DiscoverEU, they will receive assistance and support.
After Discover EU
You shall be willing to become a DiscoverEU Ambassador and report back on your travel experiences. For example through social media tools like Instagram, Facebook or Twitter using #DiscoverEU.
