ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION

Woodcraft Folk are looking for a volunteer to help build on our work to be better known and understood. In this role you will support the charity with engaging communications online and at events! Weekly tasks might include putting together an updating our new website with news stories, creating engaging social media posts, creating press release templates for our local groups and helping to design our next communications campaign. This role will give you an opportunity to develop your marketing and communications skills including writing in English, photography, digital skills and more! Each week you’ll have the opportunity to be part of our activities for children and young people as well, by attending weekly group nights at one of our London districts and attending events. You will also help to raise awareness of ESC and Erasmus+, enthusing our members about international opportunities and acting as a role model.

ACCOMMODATION, FOOD AND TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS

The accommodation will be with an experienced host family in London. The host family can offer practical advice about living in London, and an introduction to the local area and transport links. You will also have plenty of time for self-lead exploration. Meal and food allowance arrangements can be agreed in discussion with the selected volunteer. The accommodation is close to our London office and a full induction will be given to the UK and London transport systems.

TRAINING DURING THE ACTIVITY

You will receive a structured induction at our London office with a mixture of one-to-one learning, shadowing staff, observing meetings, independent reading and a briefing on IT systems. You will receive training in the organisational ethos, Safeguarding and Health and Safety. We will have regular reviews to identify further training needs and how we might meet them. You’ll also benefit from a Mentor and have the option of attending weekly English classes.
