Details

The Banco Santander Georgetown University Partnership on Social Economy is accepting applications from students interested in participating in a two-week, multi-disciplinary workshop. Moreover, the workshop will examine key trends affecting social and economic inclusion and ask participants to develop innovative approaches as well as creative solutions.

Students should expect an interactive and practical learning environment that draws on real-world applications of innovation in addition to classroom-based lectures. In addition, students will gain exposure to policy and practice by connecting to a network of researchers, practitioners, financiers, and policymakers. Furthermore, cultural activities will complement learning goals of the seminars and allow participants to explore Washington, D.C.

Students will learn from thought leaders representing diverse institutional perspectives, including academia, policy making, non-profits, and private enterprise. Moreover, within this framework, students will work collaboratively to identify potential technological, commercial, and policy innovations designed to increase access to the financial sector as well as related economic, health, and education resources and opportunities. Also, students will have the opportunity to present their conclusions to a panel of executives at the conclusion of the workshop.

Benefits

The Georgetown University Santander Partnership will cover the workshop costs, room and half board (breakfast and lunch on weekdays). The student is responsible for air and ground transportation to Georgetown University and travel medical insurance, which is required to participate. In addition, the Partnership will provide logistical assistance and instructions for the visa-application process, if necessary, as well as the requirements for health insurance while participating in the workshop
