Summary

The Academy Summer Associate Program is an intensive, 10-week development program for emerging leaders. Associates learn about issues impacting California and the nation and manage research and advocacy projects under the direction of a Greenlining staff member.  The Summer Associate program is an intensive development program and learning community for emerging leaders. Furthermore, the participants are assigned to a Greenlining policy team and gain exposure to the policy development process through a research and advocacy capstone project.

Benefits

Students participate in leadership skills workshops, attend meetings with key stakeholders, and conduct site visits to the community, government, and corporate entities. In addition to that, they will have exposure to community leaders, new issues, and new methods of advocacy. Associates also receive regular mentorship, professional and personal skill development, and are given opportunities to interact with the media, write reports/press releases, testify at key policy hearings, and participate in key meetings with top government officials, corporate CEOs, and political leaders.

Eligibilities 

  • No degree is necessary for this Greenlining Institute Summer Associate Program in the USA. But however, candidates must be 18 years or older.
  • At least six months of relevant experience and commitment to championing causes that serve low-income communities and communities of color.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, strong organizational skills, and an ability to work independently.
  • Versatile and adaptable as well as able to think on their feet in response to changing circumstances.
  • Thrives in, and contributes to, a team-oriented working environment.
  • Effectively communicates needs and solutions to personal and professional challenges.
  • Strong personal initiative and motivation, strong work ethic, as well as a sense of pride in their work product.
  • Track record of working toward social and racial justice.
  • Furthermore, candidates must be a self-starter who likes to take initiative, is curious and seeks opportunities to grow.

Funding 

Each participating Summer Associate will be eligible to receive a $5,500 stipend disbursed bi-weekly pending completion of the 10-week program. By accepting the offer to join the Leadership Academy, participants also become lifetime members of the Greenlining network with access to boundless opportunities.

Application Procedure 

The Leadership Academy Summer Associate application changes each cycle. The Greenline Institute recommends applicants to carefully review the official page for guidelines before beginning application and submitting it to Formstack.
