Key Responsibilities

The selected researcher will support the Foundation’s major research activities and governance initiatives. Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting desk-based research and policy analysis.
  • Collecting, managing, analyzing, and visualizing data.
  • Drafting literature reviews and research papers.
  • Supporting the development and analysis of the Ibrahim Index of African Governance (IIAG).
  • Identifying new governance indicators and data sources.
  • Producing reports, presentations, and policy briefs.
  • Monitoring developments related to governance, democracy, migration, climate, development finance, security, and the rule of law.
  • Assisting with dissemination of research findings and participation in relevant events.
  • Providing editing, fact-checking, and logistical support for Foundation activities.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants should possess:

  • A postgraduate degree in a relevant field.
  • Approximately 2–4 years of research or analytical experience (internships may be considered).
  • Knowledge of African governance, development, international affairs, or public policy.
  • Experience with data management, statistical analysis, and data visualization.
  • Strong research writing and presentation skills.

Desired Skills

The Foundation is looking for candidates who demonstrate:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office applications.
  • Experience with data analysis tools such as Python, R, Tableau, or similar software.
  • Attention to detail and strong proofreading skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in multicultural environments.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Fluency in English.

Additional language skills such as French, Arabic, or Portuguese are considered an advantage.
