The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance (ICMP) invites emerging music producers and musicians from all over the world to participate in 5 days Music Production Summer School in London, United Kingdom. This Music Production Summer School 2020 is the platform for individuals to learn, create and perform with like-minded electronic music fans. The participants will gain ideas about creating music using the industry-standard software as well as boosts their streamlined creative process.

Program Details

The students will spend their entire week learning about creating their own music using either Ableton Live or Logic Pro. Furthermore, this program is designed to develop techniques including sampling, drum programming, and mastering in students.  The activities of ICMP Music Production Summer School in London also include guest sessions exploring some specific elements of production, from deconstructing drum beats through to mixing and mastering. The program will run for five days starting on Monday 27th and ending on Friday 31st July 2020.

Students have the option to focus on either Ableton Live or Logic Pro. If students are not familiar with these platforms; Ableton is ideal for electronic music producers and Logic is more suitable to traditional musicians. However, both platforms are extremely adaptable and will allow students to produce music in any style or genre they desire. The program fee is £299 which also covers the student materials pack and course tuition of the participant.

Under the assistance and guidance from special tutors, all active professional musicians and producers in their own right, candidates will have to through the basics of the software platform and introduced to the techniques and processes involved in music production – from understanding the interface through to making beats, using samples and creating chord sequences and melodies.

Learning Outcomes 

After one whole exciting week of learning and interacting with tutors, all active professional musicians and other global producers, the participants will be able to

  • Gain a strong understanding of the capabilities of Ableton or Logic as a production and performance tool.
  • Create their own tracks using samples and powerful in-built instruments as well as their own drum beats and samples.
  • Understand the importance of adding swing and also groove to bring their drum patterns to life.
  • Create chord progressions, melodies and arpeggios.
  • Make their own instruments using any source, allowing them to become independent from pre-made libraries.
  • Understand how to mix and master their tracks.

The ICPM (Institute of Contemporary Music Performance) is a music institute in London, United United Kingdom. It has been developing and delivering music education and training to students of contemporary music for over 30 years, longer than any other UK school. Average 94% of ICMP graduates are in employment or further education within 6 months of graduating from the institute.
