The Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) calls applications for SIDA International Training Program 2020 for Media Regulations. Moreover, this is a fellowship program that provides a forum and platform for constructive, creative dialogue between high-level representatives from media, government and civil society on how to improve self-regulatory and regulatory frameworks for media.

Editions

There are currently four editions of this program targeting different geographical areas: Southern/Eastern Africa (Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe); Latin America (Colombia, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras); Asia (Bangladesh, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, and Vietnam); and Eastern Europe (Armenia, Moldova, and Ukraine).

Objective of Program

The overall objective of this program is that the participants and their supporting organizations should contribute to the promotion and protection of the institutional frameworks that govern the self-regulation of the media sector. More specifically, this program aims to contribute to the development of self-regulatory frameworks for the media sector, strengthening the institutional and organizational capacities among relevant stakeholders and contributing to national reform and change processes.

Learning Outcomes 

The participants will gain the following things at the end of this SIDA International Training Program

  • Increased knowledge about media and freedom of expression in relation to media policy.
  • Extended professional national, regional and international networks.
  • Greater awareness of human rights, gender equality and security for journalists and media actors.
  • Increased knowledge and also the capacity to initiate structured, long-term transformational work within and outside the respective organization.

Requirements 

  • Applicants must hold a key position in their organization, with influence on a strategic level.
  • They should also have the drive and power to initiate and drive change processes and also sh.
  • In addition to that, they should be highly proficient in English hold a relevant academic degree
  • Furthermore, candidates must be available and motivated for active participation throughout the whole training program.
