HENNGE Global Internship Program 2027 in Japan (Travel and Living Support)

The HENNGE Global Internship Program (GIP) 2027 offers an exciting opportunity for international computer science students and aspiring software engineers to gain practical experience with a leading Japanese cloud technology company. Based in Tokyo, Japan, the programme focuses on software engineering, modern web development, cloud computing, and professional growth in an international working environment.

HENNGE designed this programme for students and early-career developers who want to strengthen their technical skills through hands-on training, mentorship, and collaborative projects. The internship is conducted in English, so Japanese language proficiency is not required.

Internship Benefits

Selected interns receive several financial and professional benefits, including:

  • Monthly living subsidy: Financial support for accommodation, meals, transportation, and everyday expenses. Published programme information lists support of up to JPY 150,000 per month, subject to the applicable terms.
  • Round-trip airfare: Travel support between the intern’s country of residence and Japan.
  • Visa assistance: Pre-arrival guidance and financial assistance for eligible visa-related expenses.
  • Medical insurance: Insurance coverage for eligible international interns who do not reside in Japan.
  • Japanese mobile phone: A mobile phone with data during the internship.
  • Technical mentorship: Guidance from experienced software engineers and dedicated mentors.
  • Professional networking: Access to technical sessions, company events, and opportunities to learn about Japanese workplace culture.

Important: The HENNGE Global Internship Program is an unpaid training programme. The monthly subsidy and other benefits help cover expenses but should not be confused with a salary. Airfare and insurance conditions may differ for people already residing in Japan.

Available Internship Pathways

Applicants can choose from two technical pathways:

1. Full-Stack Engineering Pathway

This pathway covers application development across the front end and back end, using technologies such as Python, Go, TypeScript, and modern web frameworks. Training also includes cloud infrastructure and DevOps fundamentals, including deployment on AWS.

2. Front-End Engineering Pathway

This pathway focuses on building modern web applications using TypeScript with React or Vue. Participants develop skills in state management, data fetching, application design, testing, and collaboration with back-end services.

Both pathways emphasise problem-solving, technical fundamentals, code quality, and feedback from experienced engineers.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants should generally meet the following requirements:

  • Be in the third year or above of an undergraduate programme, enrolled in a master’s or doctoral programme, or be a recent graduate.
  • Be studying or hold a degree in computer science or a related field, or demonstrate equivalent experience through a technical internship or bootcamp.
  • Have strong English communication skills.
  • Demonstrate relevant programming proficiency for the chosen pathway.
  • Have experience using Linux, macOS, or another Unix-like environment.
  • Be interested in software engineering, open-source communities, and potentially pursuing a career in Japan.

Candidates should review the pathway-specific requirements before applying.

Internship Duration and Schedule

The programme generally lasts four to six weeks, with training conducted on weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Japan Standard Time.

Published 2027 full-stack batches include June 1–July 16, August 2–September 3, and October 1–29, 2027. Availability may change as positions are filled.

Application Deadline

There is no single annual deadline. Applications are reviewed on a rolling, first-come, first-served basis, and individual batches may close once all positions are filled.

How to Apply

Visit the official HENNGE recruitment website, register for the coding challenge, and submit your solution along with your CV and cover letter. Candidates who pass the initial screening proceed to interviews. Applicants should complete the process early because internship places are limited.
