World Food Programme invites candidates to apply for the internship program in the WFP Supply Chain Unit in Cambodia. The Supply Chain Unit manages food distributions and shares its technical expertise to capacity strengthening activities related to education, food systems and disaster risk reduction. The intern will report directly to and under the guidance of the Team Leader of the Supply Chain Unit at the WFP Cambodia Country Office. Moreover, the intern position works with the Supply Chain Unit to increase operational efficiency and effectiveness, provide visibility in supply chains and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
Key Duties
Logistics capacity & services market assessments
- Contributing to the Supply Chain Unit’s comprehensive review of existing in-country logistics capacity assessments through internal and external data collection as well as through review and verification of relevant logistics sources.
- Assisting logistics staff in the identification and drafting of the necessary logistics updates as per the findings.
- Using the transport and other logistics services manuals to better understand how economic and regulatory factors affect the rates offered by service providers active in the supply chain sector in Cambodia.
Support logistics information management processes
- Supporting the Supply Chain Unit Team Leader in the revision of key logistics and procurement monitoring reports and systems to enable informed decision making and to ensure consistency of logistics information products;
- Assisting in the revision and proof-reading of standard logistics documents, as well as possible discrepancies in statistics and data to contribute to the development of accurate documentation.
Support WFP Supply Chain projects
- In support of WFP’s logistics provision of services, review the current business model and create a brochure and communication/outreach plan in line with the humanitarian partners’ needs for on-demand supply chain services, including storage services, warehouse management, transportation, handling, and clearance.
- Support the Logistics Unit’s outreach efforts and actively promote WFP’s proposed logistics services.
- In support of a logistics emergency preparedness project, undertake project support activities such as planning, monitoring and preparation of project related activities.
- Furthermore, performs other other duties as required.
Requirements
Candidates must have the following qualifications in order to be eligible for this Internship Program at WFP in Cambodia
- Currently enrolled and have attended University courses in the last 12 months inclusive of having completed at least two years of undergraduate studies or have recently graduated in the last 6 months’ commerce, supply chain management, international development, political science, or a closely related field. However, certificates or courses in a field related to logistics/transport activities, data analysis and commodity management are desirable.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point) as well as fluent in English.
- Supply chain (logistics, procurement) related experience is desirable.
- Ability to produce high-quality written materials and presentations in English preferred. Similarly, strong analytical abilities and high attention to detail preferred.
Stipend/Compensation
Interns receive a monthly stipend from WFP up to the maximum amount of US$1000 per month depending on the duty station of assignment. In addition to that, WFP will reimburse travel ticket for candidates who are nationals of developing countries and are pursuing their studies in their home country.
