The Office of the Auditor General (OAG) needs to an intern to expand on the OAG’s existing Cognitive Country Risk Assessment Model for Internal Audit or explore other possible applications of artificial intelligence in internal audit. The current country risk model is used to determine the country portfolio for audit each year based on a risk assessment ranking.

This internship will build on the existing model and study the feasibility of expanding such a model, using high level technologies, such as artificial intelligence or machine learning. Currently, the input data includes external data, such as macro-economic data and news articles; and internal data, such as ADB’s historical loan, grant and financial data; and unstructured data from various ADB management and project reports. The intern may also propose other feasible applications of artificial intelligence in the performance of internal audit activities in OAG.

Benefits

ADB provides a stipend of 69 USD per day for a maximum of 56 calendar days only. Interns may choose to continue work beyond 56 calendar days in agreement with the designated supervisors, but without stipend.

Expected Outcomes

• Output: A proof of concept report or working prototype detailing the feasibility of adopting high-level technologies, such as artificial intelligence or machine learning technologies, to rank risks to determine country portfolio audit priorities or other possible applications of artificial intelligence in internal audit.

• Outcomes: Assist OAG in determining whether artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies could be used to expand the country risk analysis for use in developing audit priorities or in other applications of internal audit work. Assist OAG in developing a more comprehensive and efficient method to assess country risks for internal audit purposes or a prototype of a different application of artificial intelligence in internal audit work.

Qualifications

1. Master’s degree, with specialization in Computer Science, Data Science, Finance, or other relevant applied science.
2. Preference for specialization in artificial intelligence or machine learning.
3. Hands-on experience in developing, testing, and using artificial intelligence or machine learning technologies for cognitive analysis.
