Paid Internship in France is by the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is looking to recruit an intern for a period of three months, starting as soon as possible, to assist in contributing to the offices work in development of long-term partnerships with public decision makers and other civil society partners in order to advocate the work of WFP; and raise and mobilize resources to support food assistance programs. The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is the world’s largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide, delivering food assistance in emergencies and working with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience. Each year, WFP assists some 80 million people in around 80 countries. Under the supervision of the head of the Paris Liaison office, the Advocacy intern will:

1.   Contribute ideas for opportunities to develop new and existing synergies with other UN agencies to senior external partnership officers in order to support more effective and efficient approach to food assistance;

2.   Implement the work plan for the assigned area by delivering activities that maintain and develop government partnerships in order to maximize resources raised for the programme;

3.   Prepare briefs on resourcing issues for Country/Regional/Division Directors;

4.   Collate and share relevant discussion and feedback on programme activities and issues of priority to WFP, gathered from member states, UN agencies, NGOs, host government and other partners, to engage them with inter-governmental/inter-agency discussion and inform future activities;

5.   Collate and analyze data for the preparation of accurate and timely reporting on donors and programmes, to enable informed decision-making and action planning by senior stakeholders;

6. Gather inputs from WFP that will contribute to inter-governmental/inter-agency work, to ensure that WFP positions are properly explained and taken into account in decision making;

7.   Maintain awareness of current activities, political and social events of UN and other multilateral bodies/governments, conduct analysis to understand how they may impact WFP activities and programmes and provide timely information to WFP staff for decision-making;

8.   Other as required.

Essential requirements:

  • Currently enrolled (or recently graduated in the past six months) in Journalism, Public Relations, Communications, International Relations or relevant field; masters degree is preferable;
  • University course attendance in the past 12 months;
  • At least two years undergraduate studies completed;
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and French;
  • Excellent written communications skills and attention to detail; proficient use of Office package, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent research skills.
