Project Officer Internship at UNDP in Zugdidi, Georgia

The Project Officer Internship will be based in Zugdidi and will work under the overall guidance of the CPR Team Leader and the direct supervision of Project Managers of USAID PRP and UK-SSP projects, and in close cooperation with the project and other UNDP teams in the Country Office.

Duties and Responsibilities for Project Officer Internship

Contribute to coordinated, coherent and efficient workflow processes for smooth implementation of projects:

  • In coordination with Project Managers, participates in the development of LVGs for CSO partnersand grantees;
  • Ensures donor and UNDP visibility in all activities performed within the projects;
  • Supports international and local consultants in performing relevantactivities in the AoR;
  • Facilitates knowledge management with regard to lessonslearnt within the projects;
  • Cooperates with other stakeholders– and enhances exchange of experiences of project activities implemented in the AoR;
  • Provides timely reports to the Project Managers;
  • Performs other duties assigned by the Project Managers.

Monitoring of the project results:

  • Supports the development of M&E plans for the projects to ensure effective and efficient implementation of the project and to ensure that activities and outputs result in positive outcomes;
  • Analyzes evidence to inform management decision-making, improve effectiveness and efficiency, and adjust programming as necessary;
  • Participates in annual project reviews and planning workshops and assist the Project Manager in preparing relevant reports;
  • Prepares the Log frame and Risk Log for the project;
  • Prepares and maintain a database to track progress on the project’s indicators and targets;
  • Provides input and update information related to progress project outcome in UNDP;
  • Provides inputs in the drafting of TORs for Baseline, Mid-term, and End-line project evaluation;
  • Supports international and local evaluators to conduct mid-term and final evaluations of the projects.

Building partnerships with key stakeholders at the locallevel and otherUNDP partners:

  • Maintains communication with partner organizations;
  • Through various interventions (meetings, presentation, negotiations etc.) ensures the project buy-in from critical partners at the local level;
  • Maintains close relationships with stakeholders, by conducting analysis of interests of key groups, as well as analysis of risks and relevant mitigation activities.

Administrative and financial support:

  • Supports Project Managers in the day-to-day implementation of the project in compliance with all relevant UNDP rules and regulations;
  • Ensures proper functioning of the office (timely purchase of office supplies, payment of rent, utilities, communication etc.);
  • Drafts and types the varieties of letters and minutes of the meeting, when required;
  • Maintains project filing system with the project related documents in a well-structured manner;
  • Establishes and maintains both electronic and manual filing systems for easy retrieval of correspondence and other documentation;
  • Supports with preparation of the Annual Work Plans, budget mid-year reviews, and other required financial updates;

Required Skills and Experience

Education:
  • Master`s degree in social sciences, economics, business administration, public administration, international relations, or other relevant fields.
  • Bachelor’s degree in combination with 2 years of qualifying experience can be taken into consideration in lieu of Master`s degree.
Experience:
  • Up to 2 years (with Master’s degree) or minimum 2 years (with Bachelor’s degree) of work experience in project planning and implementation, working with relevant stakeholders and communities.

Languages:

  • Fluency in English, Georgian and Russian languages is required.

Required Skills:

  • Awareness/understanding and consideration of Do No Harm principle;
  • Ability to conductstrategic planning, results-based management, and reporting.
  • Ability to lead monitoring activities of management projects.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience in workingon complex projectswould be an asset.
  • Experience in rural development and agriculture will be an asset.
  • Experience in working with UNDP and the UN system; including knowledge of its practices and procedures would be an asset.

Travel:  Visits to target regions may be required on a need’s basis
