This position is located in the Executive Office (EO), Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), in New York. OCHA is the part of the United Nations Secretariat responsible for bringing together humanitarian actors to ensure a coherent response to emergencies and natural disasters. OCHA also ensures there is a framework within which each actor can contribute to the overall response effort. OCHA’s mission is to mobilize and coordinate effective and principled humanitarian action in partnership with national and international actors in order to alleviate human suffering in disasters and emergencies; advocate for the rights of people in need; promote preparedness and prevention and facilitate sustainable solutions.

The Senior Humanitarian Affairs Officer/Chief of Evaluation and Oversight Section reports to the Executive Officer.

CHIEF SECURITY ADVISER, NIAMEY

The Chief Security Adviser will report directly to the Division of Regional Operations of Department of Safety and Security at UN Headquarters in New York. The post is presently located in Niamey, Niger and this duty station has been designated by the International Civil Service Commission as an “E” hardship and family duty station.

ECONOMIC AFFAIRS OFFICER, NEW YORK, USA

This position is located in the New York Office of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). The incumbent will provide support to the integration of UNCTAD’S overall programme on trade and development as well as its interrelated issues in the areas of finance, technology, investment and sustainable development. The Economic Affairs Officer will work under the direct supervision of the Chief, UNCTAD New York Office, and will receive the overall guidance of the Director, Office of the Secretary-General of UNCTAD.
