The Security Operations Center (SOC) Assistant supports key functions and operations of the United Nations. The Security Operations Center (SOC) Assistant works in collaboration with the operations, programme and project staff in the Country Offices as well as with service and maintenance providers of the security related equipment and tools, to exchange information and ensure consistent services delivery.
Duties and Responsibilities of Operations Center
Security Operations Centers (SOC) Assistant
- Support the UNSMS (Security Management Systems) on the daily operations of the SCS (Security Communications System)
- Receive, transmit or relay security and safety messages and information on behalf of the Designated Official/ Senior security personnel via all identified means of communications (cellular phone, satellite phone, HF/VHF, etc.)
- On receipt of notifications of security incidents or observations of security incidents through public media, escalate these through the appropriate and defined channels for follow-up and support;
- Notify the most senior security professional of any security incident and the respective UNSMS organization when their personnel are involved in a security incident;
- Based on the local SOPs, contact external security services, to support UNSMS personnel who are involved in security incidents;
- Maintain records and logs of communications and actions taken to support security incident management;
UN Premises Security and Access Control to UN House
- Compiles and submits monthly reports of the Security Guard Force in support of FSAs activities and statistics;
- Maintains delivery and backup of security related CCTV data;
- Supports the CPC to liaise with the service providers regarding the regular maintenance of the security equipment including access control, CCTV and exterior lights
- Maintains fire alarm system, ensures functioning of fire extinguishers and replaces them as they reach the expire date and acts as a fire warden;
ID/Pass Handling:
- Designs and produces ID cards for the UN staff, their relevant family members and project personnel; plans and requests required materials for ID printer;
- Monitors Access Control system and provides the UN staff and visitors with proximity cards; processes attendance reporting when required;
- Conducts programming of proximity cards and maintains data base.
Support FSA in ensuring:
- Supports the FSA in ensuring UN safety and security-related issues;
- Backstopping FSA when she/he is absent from the office
- Perform any other tasks the FSA assigns and reports for duty as and when necessary.

Required Skills and Experience
Min. Education requirements
- Secondary Education is required.
- University degree (Bachelor’s degree) in Political Science, Military Studies, Security Management, Management or a relevant field will be given due consideration, but it is not a requirement.
Min. years of relevant work experience
- Minimum of 5 years (with secondary education) or 2 years (with Bachelor’s degree) of relevant progressively responsible experience in security, preferably in the military or police context or related field of work
Required Language(s)
- Fluency in English and Mongolian is required.
