Applications are open for the UNICEF Venture Fund Internship 2026, an opportunity for students and recent graduates to gain practical experience with UNICEF’s Office of Innovation in Stockholm, Sweden. UNICEF is recruiting multiple interns to support its Venture Fund team, with the internship offered for six months on a part-time basis. The position can be completed in person in Stockholm or remotely. 

The internship is part of UNICEF’s Office of Innovation, which works at the intersection of global development, technology, entrepreneurship and new approaches to solving challenges affecting children and communities.

The UNICEF Venture Fund supports early-stage, open-source technology solutions with potential to improve outcomes for children. Interns will work with the Venture Fund team on areas such as startup sourcing and due diligence, research, knowledge generation, resource mobilization, portfolio management and engagement with UNICEF country offices. 

What Will Interns Do?

Selected interns may be involved in:

• Researching and identifying promising technology startups
• Supporting startup applications and due diligence
• Preparing research briefs, presentations and case studies
• Maintaining portfolio and sourcing databases
• Supporting resource mobilization materials
• Assisting with UNICEF country-office engagement
• Contributing to projects focused on taking promising innovations from pilot to scale

The internship also provides exposure to innovation, global development, research, data analysis and communications, including opportunities to work with tools such as Excel and Power BI. 

Benefits and Financial Support

Selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend, unless they are already receiving third-party support for the internship. However, this is not a fully funded internship. Interns are responsible for their own travel and living expenses and must have medical insurance covering the internship period and location. They are also expected to provide their own laptop and internet connection.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

• Be at least 18 years old
• Be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program, or have graduated within the past two years
• Have a relevant academic background such as economics, business administration, social and economic development, political science, innovation, public administration or a related field
• Have good organizational and time-management skills
• Be able to work effectively in a multicultural environment
• Have good knowledge of Microsoft 365 tools
• Have excellent written and spoken English
• Be able to commit to the internship on a part-time basis 

Previous experience with innovation, the private or public sector, or work in an emerging economy is considered an asset.
