United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific call application for internship in the field of Information System and Communication Technology in Beijing, China. The internship is UNPAID and full-time. The minimum duration of an internship is two months which can be extended up to a total period of six months. Interns will work under the supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned.

Responsibilities

Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual’s background; the intern’s assigned office as well as the internship period. Duties may include, but are not limited to:

• Provide support for computer information systems, website and applications.
• Install computer application systems software and hardware.
• Perform troubleshooting for various applications.
• Assistance during conferences.
• Compiling statistics.
• Administrative support.

Education Requirements 

Applicants to the United Nations Internship Programme, at the time of application, must meet one of the following requirements

• Be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher, i.e. Master’s or equivalent, PhD or post-graduate degree.
• Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent).
• Have graduated with a university degree (Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD or equivalent) and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation.

Other Requirements 

• Applicants to the United Nations Internship Programme are not necessary to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is necessary.
• Be computer literate in standard software applications.
• Demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
• Demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
• Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. In addition to that, the knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
