Details

Berkeley Model United Nations is a student run organization on the UC Berkeley campus dedicated to continuing its six decades of excellence as the world’s premier — and very first — United Nations simulation. Every March, over 1,900 high school students from all over the world come to Berkeley to participate in Berkeley Model United Nations. Entering its 67th session, BMUN’s mission is to spread awareness of international issues and the spirit of diplomacy through UN simulations. Moreover, they also aim to create an educational experience for high school students, to help them realize their potential in areas such as public speaking and policy debate. They do this by serving as head chairs on a diverse group of committees in which we help to facilitate delegate education through substantive diplomatic debate.

Why BMUN?

  1. Outreach and Education: BMUN’s Outreach and Education wing actively assists local high schools in building their Model UN programs through scheduled in-class visits to clubs and classrooms across the Bay Area. Their sessions consist of a wide range of activities, building upon public speaking and research skills as well as advancing knowledge of current affairs. In addition to Outreach sessions, BMUN hosts an annual Delegate Workshop in the Fall, during which delegates participate in a day-long lecture and simulation experience. BMUN is also working hard to build additional services in conference consulting and remote educational opportunities.
  2. International: BMUN brings their unique brand of Model UN across the globe to countries like the United Arab Emirates, Japan, and India. They focus on providing their chairing and debate expertise to conferences around the world, such as the Pacific Rim International Model United Nations conference in Tokyo, Japan every March.

Fees & Payment

This year, Berkeley Model United Nations will be continuing its static fee of $55 for both school deposit fee and delegate registration fees. This means that a team must first submit an initial, non-refundable fee of $55 and then $55 for every delegate that registers. So, for example, if School A registers a team of 10 delegates, then their total cost will come out to $605, $55 for the initial team fee and $550 for the 10 delegates ($55 x 10 = $550)
